Dazzle presents Mistura Fina on Cinco de Mayo / Sunday, May 5 at 6 p.m.
The band features a rousing mixture of African and Latin rhythms with a jazz delivery that compels listeners to get up and move. Founding member Frank Ayala has been a fixture in the city’s music scene and has entertained audiences for over 40 years. He frequently features exotic instruments like the Berimbau, Cuica, and Talking Drum much to the delight of his audiences.
Mistura Fina produced two releases to critical acclaim. The second release, “A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That” was reviewed in the premier jazz publication All About Jazz and was enthusiastically received by listening audiences in Australia, France, and South America. Mistura Fina was featured on KUVO, Denver’s Oasis in the City jazz radio station in their Live Performance Studio, and was a guest artist at KUVO’s 20th Anniversary Celebration. The band also opened for world-renowned recording artists Flora Purim, Airto, and the late, great flute player Herbie Mann.
